نهضة هارلم ودورها في مقاومة التمييز العنصري ضد الامريكان الأفارقة

خلال أوائل القرن العشرين ، شهدت هارلم نهضة ثقافية غيرت مجرى التاريخ بالنسبة للأمريكيين الأفارقة . بدأت هذه الفترة في العشرينيات واستمرت حتى منتصف الثلاثينيات من القرن الماضي . شهدت تلك الفترة منعطفا مفصليا في تاريخ المقاومة التي خاضها الأمريكيون الأفارقة ضد التمييز ، وتكمن أهمية النهضة في الدور الذي لعبته في تشكيل الهوية الثقافية للأمريكيين الأفارقة ، وتغيير الصورة النمطية للسود من خلال تغيير الكيفية التي ينظر فيها هؤلاء القوم لأنفسهم . فمنذ النهضة ، التي اجترحت " الزنجي الجديد" من خلال ادبياتها ، صار الفخر العرقي يشكل الطابع الرئيس للفرد الأسود ، ولم تعد نظرة الرجل الابيض مهمة بالنسبة له. ذلك التحول الساحر نقل السود من ظل الرجل الابيض ومحدداته الثقافية الى حرية الاختيار والاعتقاد وتقديم الذات بصورة خلاقة. ولعل ابرز أدلة هذا التحول يقدمها لانغستون هيوز ، أحد أهم شعراء النهضة وروادها ، في نص شعري عميق يقول فيه " أنا أيضا أغني لأمريكا ، أنا الأخ الأغمق ، يرسلونني لتناول الطعام في المطبخ عندما يأتي الاصدقاء ، لكني أضحك وأكل جيدا ، وأنمو قويا . غدا سأكون على الطاولة عندما يأتي الاصدقاء ، ولن يجرؤ أحد ليقول لي "كل في المطبخ" ، بعدها سيرون كم أنا جميل ويخجلون". من هنا جاءت أهمية تناول تلك الحركة بالدراسة، من خلال معالجة التحول الثقافي والاجتماعي والفني الذي حدث في هارلم ، وكيف اضحى الحي بفعل حركة الزنجي الجديد الى " مكة " التي سافر اليها الكتاب والفنانين والموسيقيين والشعراء والعلماء السود من أجل العثور على مكان يمكنهم فيه التعبير عن مواهبهم بحرية .
