Abstract

This recent research sheds light on the journalistic efforts of Sheikh Muhammad Baqir al-Nasiri (1931-2020) that he presented through his magazine Islamic Solidarity (1964-1968) issued in the city of Nasiriyah, as Sheikh al-Nasiri was one of the most prominent pioneers of the Shiite Islamic movement and a pioneer of religious journalism in Iraq. Al-Nasiri worked as an agent for more than one of the Shiite references, which made him well-known and famous in the city of Nasiriyah, in addition to the fame of his father, Sheikh Abbas.

Sheikh al-Nasiri dealt with various religious topics and matters that affect the life of the Islamic and Iraqi society in various social, moral and reformist situations. He had a religious tendency that prevailed in his writings and articles, in which he responded to a critical stage of the stages of the Shiite party life, with the arrival of the communist, nationalist and Baathist currents to power since the revolution of July 14, 1958, with the rise of Abdul Karim Qasim to power, and then the arrival of Abdul Salam Aref and his brother Abdul Rahman, whose rule witnessed the emergence of those secular currents, which were the most important axes that al-Nasiri responded to in his journalistic writings until the arrival of the Baathist rule, which suspended his magazine and restricted his activity and role.

We shed light on the Islamic topics, ideas and visions that al-Nasiri presented in his articles on the reform of the Iraqi youth and society as a whole, as well as his position on the events that affected the Iraqi people, especially the Arab-Zionist conflict. Also, the religious, social, intellectual and other topics.
