Abstract
Analyzing poetic texts from a romantic perspective is one of the essential critical steps in literary knowledge. This is important because analysis from this perspective involves building the theme and poetic formulations. It involves encompassing the poetic text, comprehension, understanding, and diagnosing its purposes, which are the noblest goals of critical reading. In his modern poetic collections written in Arabic, the poet Shakir Al-Ghazzi deals with various themes through a romantic lens. He only strays from themes related to homeland, man, and the developments of life once he delves into dealing with love and passion with women, who are abundantly present in his poetry. According to this vision, we have chosen to study the romance of women in Shakir Al-Ghazzi's poetry. The research plan followed the following steps: It began with defining romance in critical approaches, then the presence of women in its romantic context in the poetry of ancient Arabs and modern Arabs, and finally, its manifestations in Shakir Al-Ghazzi's poetry, with analysis of those examples. The researcher referred to several old and modern sources, including the history of Arabic literature by Brockelmann, the explanation of the Seven Odes by al-Zuozani, and the ability of poetry by Ibn Tabataba, as well as the collections of Shakir Al-Ghazzi.
