The research aims to explore whether the technical and technological developments that have occurred during the past two decades have affected the theory of gatekeeper, as it is noted that technical and technological developments during recent years have allowed each person the ability to publish any information without the need for a gatekeeper in the traditional media, so we see that there is an escalation in the intensity of criticism directed at the theory, which is one of the basic theories in the science of communication, as Most of those who criticize the theory claim that it does not fit with the variables imposed by technical and technological development in the field of media, hence the idea of research arose to study the theory and stand on the most important variables and factors created by the conditions of technological transformation and that drew the features of the modern communication environment, and to find out if it limited the ability of the theory to interpret the factors that control the conditions of the flow of communication messages down to the public, and from here the research problem was launched, which was expressed by subtracting A set of questions that represent the research problem to reach accurate scientific answers to it.
