The professional controls of the Iraqi war correspondent in covering security television news - a field study

Abstract

This research examines the professional controls of Iraqi war correspondents in covering security television news, as it aims to achieve a set of goals, the most prominent of which centered on knowing the extent of the Iraqi war correspondent’s commitment to presenting facts without distortion, taking into account the feelings of viewers while covering events, and avoiding showing ugly pictures. And the extent to which the Iraqi war correspondent moved away from exaggeration in order to excite viewers.

This research is descriptive. The researcher used the field survey method, and the questionnaire form was a main tool for collecting information, in addition to scientific observation. The questionnaire form was distributed to a group of Iraqi war correspondents according to the purposive sampling method, to (30) of them, and the researcher obtained answers. (23) of them. As for the most important findings of the research, national duty is the most important motivation for Iraqi war correspondents’ participation in covering television security news. Iraqi war correspondents are often committed to presenting the complete facts, and sometimes the war correspondent is forced to withhold some information from the public in compliance with the channel’s desire. However, the war correspondent is often able to perform his duties without hindrance by the security forces.
