الملخص

كانت الدول الأمم عبر مراحلها التاريخية تعتمد على نظام الثغور في حماية نفسها من الأخطار الخارجية وذلك بوضع نظم ووسائل دفاعية على الحدود ، تطورت هذه الوسائل تبعا لتطور الدول وزيادة الخطر عليهم لهذا فأن العباسيين اتبعوا نظاما يتماشى مع وضع دولتهم وخطر البيزنطيين الذي يهدد حدود الدولة الإسلامية ، حيث شهدت تلك الحدود حالة صراع متواصل بين المسلمين والروم بدءا من عهد الخلفاء الراشدين مرورا بالعهد الأموي حتى العصر العباسي الأول والثاني . يعد هذا البحث هو ألقاء الضوء وتوضيح العلاقة العدائية الدائمة بين المسلمين والبيزنطيين وعن الثغور البرية التي لعبت دورا كبيرا كخطوط دفاعية عن حدود الدولة الإسلامية ، لذلك وجه خلفاء بني العباس اهتماما واضحا لتلك المناطق ، فعملوا على بنائها وتحصينها وتزويدها بأحسن القادة والمقاتلين لتكون قاعدة للحملات العسكرية المتوجهة لبلاد الروم ، وكذلك مراكز لجمع المعلومات والتفاصيل عن بلاد الأعداء ، فضلا عن  كونها ميدانا للتبادل الحضاري بين الطرفين .دواعي اختيار الموضوع محاولة الاطلاع على أحداث العصر العباسي الأول باعتباره من أهم المحطات العسكرية في التاريخ الإسلامي، فضلا عن الرغبة في تسليط الضوء على أهم نقاط الاحتكاك الحضاري بين البيزنطيين والمسلمين ، وكذلك من أسباب اختياري هو الخوض والبحث في هذه الفترة المهمة من تاريخ الحضارة الإسلامية .
