Abstract

This research examines the poem by the Andalusian poet Ibn Abdun, known as "Al-Ra'iyya", the R-rhymed poem, or "Al-Basama." The poem consists of seventy-seven verses. The research focuses on classifying the semantic fields of the poem's vocabulary within the framework of a descriptive-statistical approach to reveal the poem's various semantic aspects and assign each word to its lexical field. The study aims to apply the theory of semantic fields to the poem by analyzing and classifying the words and identifying their meanings and connotations. This is conducted by studying them within the framework of three semantic fields: the field of entities, the field of abstractions, and the field of events. The research consists of an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The introduction is devoted to the poet and the poem. The first section examines the theory of semantic fields. The second section comprises the analysis of the poem. The research concludes with a set of findings.
