يعدُّ السلوك أول ما يواجه أعضاء العمليَّة التواصلية في موقف لغوي ما , إذ بوساطته يتم تحقيق التواصل الناجح بين المتخاطبين , ويحصل كلاهما على ما يروم إليه من دون أن يزعج الطرف الآخر , ويتم بوساطة لغة مشتركة بينهما , ولأن الوظيفة الأساسية للغة هي تحقيق التواصل بين أفراد المجتمع , وهذه الوظيفة نابعة من اجتماعية اللغة فهي تُخلق من الحياة الجمعية للأفراد , ومن ثمّ تُمكن الفرد من تحقيق حاجاته ورغباته , فاللغة نظام يشترك به جميع أفراد الجماعة اللغوية .
يرمي البحث لبيان أثر السلوك في التواصل بين أطراف العملية التواصلية , وتكوين العلاقات بين المتحدثين وتجاوز سوء الفهم الحاصل بينهم , لذا كشف عن آداب السلوك اللساني المنظم داخل الجماعة اللغويَّة ومدى مناسبته للحدث التواصلي , فضلا عن تركيزه على ظاهرتي التهذيب لكونه يدل على السلوك , ومبدأ التعاون اللذين كانا الهدف منهما وضع آداب للسلوك اللساني بين المتخاطبين في العمليات الحوارية , وبيان أثر المتغيرات المتحكمة في آداب السلوك اللساني .
